ママ休業 dayoff from motherhood

日曜日に旦那に子供を預けて、友達とランチして来ました♪　ランチして、お店をブラブラして（何も買わなかったけど…苦笑）、写真撮ってお茶して。些細なことなことばかりだけれども、子供と一緒だとゆっくり時間をかけれない事ばかり。自分の時間ってやっぱり重要ですね。エネルギー充電できたー☆　Anthropologieはインテリアがいつ行っても素敵。まだ体型が妊娠前に戻っていないので、服は殆どみないで写真ばかり撮っていました（苦笑）

On Sunday, I left kids with hubby, and went out with the good friend for lunch. It was nothing crazy, just catching up over lunch, walked around the Old Towne, and grabbed a cup of coffee... and talked some more. As little thing as this, unfortunately with kids, you cannot take your time, uh, even worse you are just rushing everything while kids want to do something else! While I do enjoy time with kids, it was so nice to have kids-free time. I am all recharged!! yay!

クラブケーキ crab cakes

週末は義姉家にお邪魔。チビを預けて５年前に披露宴をしたYork River沿いのレストランにランチをしに行って来た。

This past Saturday, my sister-in-law was nice enough to look over Akari, so we can go out for lunch at the restaurant on York River where we had the wedding reception five years ago (!).

充実した週末 Busy Weekend

旦那さんに子守りを頼み友 達とランチしたり、近所のファーマーズマーケットに行ったりと週末はかなり充実した内容でした。チビと一緒だと最近はゆっくり食べられないので、久し振り に息抜きで楽しかった。ファーマーズマーケットのお目当ては甘いトマト！スーパーと違って熟しているからとても美味しい〜　サラダで頂きました★

This past weekend was pretty good one for me. I went out lunch with friends while my hubby watched Akari, and also went to the farmer's market.  It's been a while to get to eat out in peace. As much as I love Akari's company, it's been especially tough to go out to eat with her since she doesn't want to sit still for a long time...

先週末は初めてチビを旦那に預けてDCでランチ！行ったのは限定期間でオープン中のAmerica Eats Tavern. アメリカの代表的な料理なんだけど、ちょっとおしゃれ。お店も雰囲気良かった♡

For the first time, I had a chance to go out to DC while hubby was watching Akari. It was a little odd being without her, but I still had fun! (thanks hubby!!) America Eats Tavern, where I had lunch, is open for only a limited time (until July 4th) :)

ランチ / Lunch at Shake Shack

チビの誕生後、なかなか行く機会のなかったDC。今日は珍しく友達とDC内でランチ〜♪　ちょっと前から気になっていたんだよね、このお店。 Shake Shack というハンバーガーとシェイクのお店で、旦那も近くのオフィスで仕事があって気になっていた様子。

これまた店内のデザインがちょっと良い感じ。私にしては珍しくイチゴシェイクもオーダー（名前がシェイクなんだもん。オーダーしてみたくなるよね〜）。ハンバーガーはアメリカにしては小さめだったので、全部食べた後も(！)後悔なしで美味しかった。おススメ！

お昼後、天気も良かったのでDC内を歩き回りたかったのに、速攻帰宅して３人でお昼寝。前の晩、３人とも朝の４時頃まで起きてたんだよね…　旦那は不幸にも仕事のトラブルで、私は寝てくれないチビのお付き合い…　詳しい事は、後で書くけれど月曜から始めたスリープトレーニング（夜の授乳中止し、夜起きない訓練）結構大変！

早く寝る様になって〜 !!!!

Since Akari was born, I haven't had much chance to go to DC. Well, today was a little different! We had lunch with a friend at Shake Shack which I have been hearing about. I liked the food, especially the strawberry shake!

It was a warm and sunny day for January. I really wished I could walked around DC after lunch... You know things never go the way you want, do they? After lunch, we pretty much head back home to take a nap. Hubby and I was up until 4 am night before. What we were doing?! Unfortunate hubby was busy working (yes, on Friday night... poor guy.), and I was busy trying to put Akari to sleep as we have started sleep training this past Monday... I will talking about how it's going later, but so far, not so good... 

Awwww. I MISS SLEEP!!!!

food log :: BGR the Burger Joint

父の日にBGR the Burger Jointに行ってきました〜　炭焼きなのでFive Guys (油っこすぎる) より好きかも。特にオニオンリングがオススメ★　あんなに大きなのは見たことない！

On father's day, we went to BGR the Burger Joint. I like their burger better than one from Five Guys (I think theirs is a little greasy) and their onion rings are awesomely huge!! I think they are the biggest I ever seen before...

Food log :: Ben's Chili Bowl

遂にあのオバマ大統領も行くBen's Chili Bowlに行って来たよ！（ミーハー？）日曜日の早めのお昼だったので比較的空いてました。この外壁のカラフルさが好きー☆　お店の前のカラフルな熊さんは一体なんだったんだろう…　以前流行っていた街起こし（？）用の像かなぁ？

Finally we had a chance to check out Ben's Chili Bowl where the president Obama even likes to go! Since we made it there for early lunch, the place wasn't too busy just yet (it got pretty busy by the time we were done.). I really the use of vivid color outside of the store, very diner like... But what's up with the bear at front?

アーリントンにあるナポリ風のピザが無茶苦茶美味しいお店だよ〜 ピザ生地が軽いのにもちもちで最高！

I really enjoyed the pizza from this Neapolitan pizza in Arlington! The crust was light but chewy and delicious.

ジェラトーもあってかなりオススメ★　店内もモダン なデザインでウキウキ気分に慣れるお店でした。一緒に行った友達はその後、何度か食べに行ったらしい…　ただし駐車場が小さいのが難点。行った日が火曜日 の夜だったのにも関わらず結構忙しそうだった。

They serves gelato too! The interior is modern and cute which made me happy just being in there! I highly recommend this place. As matter of fact, the friend who went with me already has gone back a few times since then...

Only problem is that their parking lot is tiny and we had hard time parking even though it was Tuesday night since they were pretty busy.

Food log :: Caboose Cafe @Del Ray

今から出産後に食べたいものリストのうちの一つ、クリームチーズとスモークサーモンのベーグルサンド（スモークサーモンが×）。ビーエジェイはCaboose Cafeで美味しそうにこの間食べてた…（涙）…美味しそう〜　

お寿司も食べたいなぁ…　でもこの辺りだとドコにいけば美味しいのだろう？誰か知らない？

One of things I am looking forward to eat after Rabbit (nickname for the kid for now) is lox sandwich. Right now smokes salmon is one of food I am not supposed to eat... :( Beejay looked so happy eating it at Caboose Cafe. Booooo... ↑ Geesh, that looked yummy!!

Other thing I am craving is sushi, but not sure where to go in this area just yet. Any recommendations, anyone!?

以前は全く飲まなかったカフェイン・フリーのコーヒー。家では飲まないけど、出かけ先では特別♥　これがあるから今のところコーヒー抜きでも生きてます（苦笑）

このカフェは夜にはエチオピアの料理も食べられるみたい。ランチのメニューも美味しそう〜 Oldtownの北部に可愛い雰囲気のDel Rayエリアにあるよ。

I never really liked drinking decaf coffee, but it's different now. I don't drink it at home but occasionally I get it when we are out somewhere. I think because of decaf, I have been surviving without actual coffee so far (minus occasional sips here and there ;).

This cafe also serves Ethiopian fair at dinner and the lunch menu seemed pretty good as well. It's located in cute Del Ray area which is north of Oldtown.

Food log :: Kabab ケバブ

中近東からの移民が多いのか、この辺りはケバブのお店が沢山！中近東の食べ物にハマっているのでかなり嬉しすぎる〜♥　でもあまりにも多くって、全部チェックするのには時間的にも金銭的にも可能かなぁ〜？？今回はDuke House of Kebabというお店に行ってみたよ。お肉を焼いている匂いが店の外でするので、中に入る前にすでにお腹がグルグル〜♪　中には小ちゃいお店もあってパンとかお米やスパイスも売ってた。フルサービスのレストランでなく、お持ち帰りの人もいっぱい来てたかな。

In the DC metro area, it seems to be there are so many kebab or Middle Eastern restaurants and that is making me really happy~♥ But since there are so many of them, it will take a while to check them out... As our first place, we went to Duke House of Kebab that was close to the home. Out side of the restaurant, you can already notice yummy smell of kebab grilling which made my stomach grumble... Inside, they also sell grocery such as rice, pita bread and spices. This isn't full-service restaurant and there were handful people for take-out.

週末はサイトには載っていないブランチメニューが豊富。私はSanta Fe Omelet をオーダー。ここはフルサービスのレストランというよりも、Panera Breadみたいに自分で飲み物やフォークなどを取りに行く形式。新しいお友達と日曜ブランチをしたんだけど、１１時頃はかなりこんでいたよ〜

It seems like they have pretty extensive breakfast menu during weekends. I ordered Sanfa Fe Omelet and it was good. This place is not full-service restaurant, but more like Panera Bread where you get your own refills and utensils, etc. I met up with my new friend there around 11AM on Sunday, and there was line to order...

Toast on Market

休みだった金曜日は（独立記念日が土曜日だから）献血を試みたあと、折角ダウンタウンにいるからとMarket StreetのあるToast on Marketでブランチ。ここのパンケーキはかなり美味しい。少し厚めでほんのり甘く、口の中でとけるかのようにふんわりしてて好きです。週末はいつもブランチ客で混んでるよ。美味しい証拠かな？古い建物をリフォームしたレストランなんで、昔ながらの細かい装飾などがオシャレ。

ちなみに献血は貧血気味らしくって、鉄分の取り方のトリセツをもらって返されてしまった。せっかく勇気をだして（血が大の苦手）行ったのに・・・　ちえっ。

This past Friday, we went to Toast on Market for brunch since we were already in downtown. (I went to Red Cross in downtown for blood donation but I was told to come back later since the red blood cells were too low...)

I like their pancakes which are slightly thicker and sweet, and they almost melt away when you eat... Their oatmeal is also delicious according to Beejay. Also what I like about this place is the interior of the older building which has unique characteristics you don't see with newer buildings.
